While walking along 8th Avenue one day, I came across this firehouse near the Times Square section of Manhattan. Now, normally the newer firehouses don't interest me, as they all tend to look the same. As I got directly across the street from this house, I heard an alarm and saw the firefighters getting ready to leave on a call. What happened next, was simply beyond belief. As the Ladder Truck pulled out, the traffic along 8th Avenue didn't stop to give them access to the street. Instead, they sped up, with each vehicle trying to get by, so they wouldn't have to wait. Now, I have seen some really stupid drivers, but these people were the worst. In fact, I was almost hit by a BMW, which swerved near the curb, so it could get around the emerging fire apparatus and save a few seconds.
